Defining an Environmental Portrait - Capturing a person in their natural environment

When you want to capture the essence of a person, what better way to do it than through an environmental portrait? This type of portrait photography captures a person in their natural environment, whether it's in their home, at work, or somewhere else that's meaningful to them. The goal is to convey a sense of who they are, what they do, and what matters to them in a way that feels authentic and relaxed. As photographers, it's our job to help our clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, so that we can create images that truly reflect their personalities and passions. If you're looking for a way to capture yourself or a loved one in a way that's truly unique and personal, consider an environmental portrait – it's a powerful way to tell your story and showcase your personality.

Introducing Headshots - Professional photos of the subject, often on a solid color backdrop

Are you ready for your close-up? Say cheese and strike a pose - it's time to introduce the perfect addition to any professional portfolio: headshots! These controlled and polished photos, captured on a white or colored backdrop backdrop, are a must-have for anyone looking to make a lasting impression both in-person and online. Whether you're an entrepreneur building your brand, a job seeker looking to land your dream gig, or simply want to enhance your social media presence, a stunning headshot is a game-changer. Let us capture your best angles and showcase your unique personality with a headshot that truly represents you. Don't settle for an unprofessional selfie - upgrade to a headshot today!

These are some examples of a portrait on a white backdrop shot here in Central Florida. It's a great option if you're going to be cutting out the images to place on a colored background or layer into something in Photoshop. It has some other benefits too - it's simple. Sometimes if you're looking for something clean that focuses solely on the person, this is the best way to go. Hopefully seeing both will give you some ideas on how to plan your next headshot.

What Does an Environmental Portrait Accomplish That A Headshot Doesn’t - Showing off your personality

An environmental portrait is not just another headshot. It goes beyond a simple professional photograph and captures your personality in a relaxed and natural setting. It reveals who you are, not just what you look like. A headshot is great for showcasing your professionalism, but an environmental portrait is an opportunity to express your uniqueness. Whether it's in the great outdoors or in your favorite café, this type of photography tells your story in a way that a traditional headshot cannot. So when you want to impress potential clients or employers with more than just a polished appearance, remember that an environmental portrait is the perfect choice to show off your true personality.

How To Create The Perfect Environmental Portrait – Location, Lighting, and Posing!

Capturing the perfect environmental portrait takes a combination of factors including location, lighting, and posing. It's more than just pointing a camera at someone and clicking a button. In order to create a portrait that captures the true essence of your subject, you must select a location that speaks to their personality or profession. The right lighting can make all the difference in conveying emotion and setting the tone for the portrait. And, of course, the way your subject is posed can help tell their story and create a dynamic composition. With these elements in mind, you can create a truly captivating environmental portrait that will stand the test of time.

If you're a company with a unique office setting, consider using it as a backdrop. We do just that with a lot of great companies big and small in Central Florida.

Location ideas for headshots and portraits

You’ve heard it before, location, location, location. It’s a true statement, not only in life, but especially true in corporate photography. The best part about working in Central Florida is the variety of locations out there to use.

We have vacation rentals, office buildings, co-working spaces, and even beautiful outdoor areas. We recently worked with Eleprenuers while they were having a company retreat in Florida. They rented a beautiful home in Kissimmee that included a variety of areas.

They hired us to come out and shoot a variety of lifestyle and portraits for all of their members. We spent probably 15-20 minutes with each person, 32 in total, getting them each a selection of images to use. These employees work a lot from home in a luxury industry so they needed variety in their images. This location was perfect. Not only did they get some stellar portraits, they also did some lifestyle things like working on the computer, drinking coffee while on the phone, working by the pool, co-working together, and much more.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy.

Everyone worries about having their photo taken. It's like the instant someone starts pointing a camera at you, you have one of two reactions: you strike a pose like there is no tomorrow because you practice in the mirror all the time - or - more often than not, you get nervous and immediately start thinking of every single flaw and insecurity you've ever had all at once. If you have that first reaction, bring it on. If you don't, that's OK, that's why we're here.

We are just like you, we don't like being in front of the camera too much, that's why we're behind it. So we understand how intimidating having your portrait taken can be. We always try to have a good time with all of our clients. Our personalities are very laid back and we love what we do. We get some really great feedback and it's really rewarding.

Don't be nervous, we're here for you and we're sure you'll be pleasantly surprised at how great you look in front of our lens! Check out our recent shoot with a local law firm located in Central Florida.

They got it all done on time and what was amazing is that they completely understood what my marketing people (in another state) wanted better than I did! Excellent quality, creative shots, perfect lighting -- made it all look so easy and effortless.” - Deborah Chang

“Kellie + Lindsay are just amazing and it took one hour for me to get tons of choices for Corporate headshots. In the current digital world we are living in, having a good photo is key not only for your resume but for your LinkedIn and internal communication apps. Believe me it makes all the difference and they know exactly what they’re doing. You feel comfortable and at ease, and seeing the results it’s just the best.” - Adriana Villalobos
