You’re probably like the rest of people in the business world, you do a lot of business online, and your profile picture is everywhere. In a time where personal customer service matters more than ever, helping people put a face with an email address is a crucial part of the process. Having a great headshot is like a digital handshake. It makes you a real person to everyone that wants to “meet” you or your company online. That simple fact brings more value to your photograph than ever.
Have you ever looked at someone’s professional website or profile picture and didn’t take them seriously because their photo was a selfie? You’re not alone. If someone is interested in hiring you or your business, they might google you first. The selfie might be fine for your profile that only your friends/family look at, but on professional social platforms like LinkedIn, you’ll want to look as professional and authentic as you can. Remember, this is your very first impression to anyone looking for you or your service online. More people are reading your LinkedIn profile than you think…
Our goal with any head shot session is to create a photograph for you that represents the real you. We do this with our approach. We’re quite laid back and relaxed as photographers, because it helps our clients feel more comfortable and we feel it’s the way to get the best out of people. We offer suggestions, but we try not to give you any “poses” in particular. We want you to have a good experience with us, so hopefully the “I hate pictures of myself” thought turns into, woah, “I look great in my photos!”
Want to know how to get the best out of your session? Check out these tips below.
Bring a few different outfits that can be layered. Like for example, the guys below had suit jackets, hats and they even brought their favorite sunglasses.
Pick colors that are bold and exciting. If you look great in purple because it compliments your eyes, wear it! Don’t be afraid of color, its your friend. You can mix and match solid colors and small patterns, but avoid large patterns that might be a distraction. Do you have a company shirts or uniforms or maybe you want to show off your own unique personality. Maybe you want to do both, let’s do it!
Morning light is our favorite. Using natural light is a great way to keep things authentic, but we’re not afraid to use light when we need it. You can create some dramatic portraits that way too. We find that the morning hours provide the most beautiful results with natural light.
