Louisiana has had it's share of hard times, but this city is as vibrant as ever. It's filled with colorful characters everywhere you look. Travel photography in New Orleans is amazing. One of my favorite things about this town was waking up early, throwing a camera over a shoulder and riding our bikes through the empty streets with the sun rising up over the city. While we were here we took a tour of the Blaine Kern Studios, which is also called, Mardi Gras World. Blaine Kern Studios makes all the floats you see going down Bourbon Street for Mardi Gras! They showed us how they make and repair floats, use old floats and re-make them into new ones, and even shared some king cake with us. Artists were at work all over the studio so we chatted with a few and it was a great experience. We're always fascinated by the way other artists work.
